New Players

Our primary school players come from a wide range of schools, with Floreat Park Primary School being our largest catchment. While many primary schools offer their own netball teams, players often need to find a new club when they move into Year 7 and beyond.

At Floreat Force Netball Club, we welcome players from all schools and are always happy to hear from new families - whether your child is joining a club for the first time or looking for a new netball home.

New player registrations are by invitation only. To get started, please complete our Expression of Interest form to let us know that your child would like to join a team at FFNC. Our club will then be in touch regarding team opportunities and availability.

Players in Years 2, 3 and 4 play in our NetSetGO (NSG) competition. We know many families may not start thinking about netball until the new year, but we encourage you to submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) early so we can keep you updated when Season Registrations open. 

Our club has grown over the past few years, so some age groups have limited places for new players. Priority is given to siblings of current members and families who volunteer as a coach or committee member.

Successful players will be invited to register. We aim to create balanced teams of around 9-10 players, taking ability and preferred positions into account. As numbers vary each year, some age groups may reach capacity quickly, while others may require additional players.

Following are the steps a Returning Player (Year 5 - 12) will need to take to play for FFNC in the following season:

Grading

Grading involves a series of sessions where independent graders observe players participating in a number of short games. Players are given the opportunity to play in different positions for Year 5 or nominated positions for Year 6-12, and graders assess their skills and performance while making notes.

Unlike larger clubs, Floreat Force does not hold individual trials for Open players. We understand that Open netball is primarily social, fun and competitive, and where possible, we aim to keep teams together from year to year.

Our goal is to place players in teams that suit their ability and preferred playing position. New players may be invited to join an existing team or, where there is enough interest, form a new team. Whole teams are also welcome to join the club and can remain together.

Sometimes we reach our ideal team numbers quickly and registration needs to close, while at other times we need additional players to fill teams. New players should therefore complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) form before registering. Invitations to register will be sent when positions become available, generally between December and February.

While we don't grade individual Open players, all teams participate in team grading in March. Independent graders assess the relative strength of each team through a series of short games. This allows PNA to rank teams and place them in the appropriate division.

Coaches & Managers

Unfortunately, the club is not able to provide coaches for Open teams. Teams are encouraged to share coaching responsibilities between players, such as rostering training sessions, or source their own coach.

Each Open team is also expected to have a Team Manager who will be the main point of contact for club communications. Teams playing in the PNA competition are also required to provide a scorer or timekeeper each week.

💙 Interested in coaching juniors?
We’d love to have Open players involved in coaching our junior teams, particularly the Year 9–12 competition. Open players who coach a Floreat Force junior team will have their club fees waived, along with other coaching benefits including a season coach fee, hoodie/jacket and netball drills app subscription. PNA Association Fees (approximately $110) are still payable via PlayHQ.

New Open Players – What to Do

KidSport vouchers enables all WA children to participate in community sport and recreation and is provided by the WA government to eligible families. To find out more about KidSport and eligibility contact the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
