New Players

Welcome!

For primary school players, our biggest catchment is Floreat Park Primary. Given this, we have players in our club from many different schools.

Quite often, a Primary School will have their own teams, but players are left to find another club for year 7 onwards.

We welcome new players from all schools, including anyone who wishes to change clubs.

Registration Process for New Players (NSG - Years 2, 3 and 4)

Players in years 2, 3 and 4 will be playing in the NetSetGO (NSG) competition. For many families, they may not be thinking about Netball until the new year starts. We strongly urge you to register your expression of interest to play ASAP as we will invite you to register from this list once season registrations are open.

Then you will need to complete the season registration ASAP because we will fill the teams on a first-in-best-dressed basis.

Following are the steps a New NSG Player will need to take to join FFNC:

  • Complete the Expression of Interest form
  • New Players will be invited to join the club when Season Registrations open in early December (including PlayHQ registration)
  • Registration for NSG will be kept open through to early March (unless teams are at capacity prior to that)
  • Teams will be put together by the NSG Coordinator, taking into account friendship groups
  • Once teams are finalised, teams are announced to the players via email, mid March

Uniforms can be ordered and paid for at the same time as Season Registration. You can learn more about our uniforms here.

If New Players miss out on a place in a team, they can still register via the EOI/Waitlist form. We use this form to source extra players as required.

Registration Process for New Players (Years 5 to 12)

Our club has grown over the past few years.  In some age groups we can only take on a few new players. For the first time we will be having trials to determine which year 7/8 players will be invited to register with the club.

Priority will be given to players whose family volunteer for the club as a Coach or Committee role. And to siblings of current members.

Successful players will be invited to register. Our goal is to place everyone in a team that suits their ability and preferred playing position. This can get tricky when we have to put the teams together, as we aim for teams of 9-10 players (depending on division). Sometimes we have to cut-off registration when we have hit the right number and other times we need to recruit to help fill the teams.

We do need to run a grading process, whereby we have independent graders observe the players in a series of short games.

You can learn more about the FFNC trials and grading process here.

Following are the steps a New Player (year 5 to 12) will need to take to join FFNC:

  • Complete the Expression of Interest form.
  • New Year 7/8 Players will be required to attend trials in November.
  • New Players will be invited to join the club between November and January.  A deposit will be required within 7 days of offer to secure your place.
  • Full payment of registration fees is required before the close of registration.
  • All registered players from year 5 to 12 will need to attend Grading in February - registrations are closed during Grading period to control intake
  • After Grading, players are placed into a team - teams are not announced until all teams have enough players (we may need to do more recruiting and moving around of players)
  • Once teams are finalised, teams are announced to the players via email, around mid March

Uniforms can be ordered and paid for at the same time as Season Registration. You can learn more about our uniforms here.

If New Players miss the trials, grading and team selection process, they can still register via the EOI/Waitlist form. We use this form to source extra players as required.

Registration Process for Open Players

Unlike other larger clubs, we do not run 'trials' for Open players to determine if you are eligible to be invited to play for us.

We understand that most of our Open players are participating on a social and fun (yet competitive) basis and we try to keep teams together year on year.  Our goal is to place everyone in a team that suits their ability and preferred playing position. New players who do not belong to a team as yet will be invited to fill existing teams or to form new teams.

Sometimes we have to cut-off registration when we have hit the right number and other times we need to recruit to help fill the teams.

Individuals are invited to fill out an Expression of Interest form and we will then invite players to register.

Whole teams are welcome to join the club and will remain intact. Please contact registrar@floreatforcenetballclub.com.au for more information.

Whilst we don't grade or trial individual Open players, we do need to run a grading process for the teams in March, whereby we have independent graders observe the relative strength of the teams in a series of short games. This is because PNA require us to 'rank' the teams so that they can be placed in the appropriate division.

COACHES and MANAGERS

Unfortunately, the club will not be in a position to provide coaches for our Open teams. We therefore encourage the teams to share the coaching responsibility across the players (roster training sessions), or source their own coach. If we do happen to find appropriate coaches, we will certainly make them available to the Open teams.

Open teams are also expected to have one Manager per team, who will be the point of contact for all club communications. All teams playing in the PNA competition are expected to supply a scorer or time-keeper every week.

We hope that some Open players will be keen to coach our Junior teams (usually in the year 9-12 competition). Any Open player who coaches a Floreat Force team will have their club fees waived (valued at $290 as well as receive other benefits our coaches enjoy - season coach fee, hoodie/jacket, netball drills app subscription). PNA Association Fees are still payable via PlayHQ, approximately $110.

Click here for more information on coaching for FFNC.

Following are the steps a New Player (Open) will need to take to join FFNC:

  • Complete the Expression of Interest form
  • New Players will be invited to join the club between December and February (including PlayHQ registration)
  • We understand that for many Open teams netball is a social activity and we aim to keep teams together year to year.
  • Teams will be required to attend team grading matches in March.

Uniforms can be ordered and paid for at the same time as Season Registration. You can learn more about our uniforms here.

If New Players miss the grading and team selection process, they can still register via the EOI/Waitlist form. We use this form to source extra players as required.
