New Players

Welcome!

Our primary school players come from a wide range of schools, with Floreat Park Primary School being our largest catchment. While many primary schools offer their own netball teams, players often need to find a new club when they move into Year 7 and beyond.

At Floreat Force Netball Club, we welcome players from all schools and are always happy to hear from new families - whether your child is joining a club for the first time or looking for a new netball home.

New player registrations are by invitation only. To get started, please complete our Expression of Interest form to let us know that your child would like to join a team at FFNC. Our club will then be in touch regarding team opportunities and availability.

Registration Process for New Players (NSG - Years 2, 3 and 4)

Players in Years 2, 3 and 4 play in our NetSetGO (NSG) competition. We know many families may not start thinking about netball until the new year, but we encourage you to submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) early so we can keep you updated when Season Registrations open.

Following are the steps a New NSG Player will need to take to join FFNC:

1. Complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form
Submitting an EOI does not guarantee a place on a team. It simply lets us know that you are interested in your child playing for FFNC in the upcoming season.

2. Invitation to Register
Once we have a clearer picture of returning player numbers, we will invite New Players to register where we have enough spaces to form a team in their year group. Invitations will be sent as Season Registrations open and as additional team places become available.

3. Complete Season Registration
Once invited, you will need to complete the Season Registration and pay the required deposit to secure your child’s place. Team places are limited and allocated on a first-in-best-dressed basis, so we encourage you to complete your registration and payment as soon as you receive your invitation. A place is not secured until the deposit has been paid and may otherwise be offered the next player on the waitlist.

4. Team Selection

Teams will be put together by the Primary School Coordinator. As a community club, we aim to create inclusive teams and therefore do not form teams solely around schools. We’ll take friendships into consideration, but we also want to give players the opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and be part of the wider FFNC community.

5. Teams Announced
Once all teams have been finalised, players will be notified of their team via email in March.

If New Players miss out on a place in a team, they will need to re-register on the EOI/Waitlist form. We use this form to source extra players as required.

Registration Process for New Players (Years 5 to 12 & Open)

Our club has grown over the past few years, so some age groups have limited places for new players. Priority is given to siblings of current members and families who volunteer as a coach or committee member.

Successful players will be invited to register. We aim to create balanced teams of around 9-10 players, taking ability and preferred positions into account. As numbers vary each year, some age groups may reach capacity quickly, while others may require additional players.

Following are the steps a New Player (Year 5 - 12 &Open) will need to take to play for FFNC in the following season:

1. Complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form

4. Attend Grading - February

All registered players (New and Returning) from Year 5 and above are required to attend Grading in February.

Registrations will be closed during the Grading period to allow us to manage player numbers and control intake.

5. Team Selection

Following Grading, players will be placed into teams. Teams will not be announced immediately, as we need to ensure each team has the required number of players. This may involve further recruiting and/or moving players between teams.

6. Teams Announced

Once all teams have been finalised, players will be notified of their team via email in March.

Grading

Grading involves a series of sessions where independent graders observe players participating in a number of short games. Players are given the opportunity to play in different positions for Year 5 or nominated positions for Year 6-12, and graders assess their skills and performance while making notes.

Additional notes for Open Players

Coaches & Managers for Open Teams

Unfortunately, the club is not able to provide coaches for Open teams. Teams are encouraged to share coaching responsibilities between players, such as rostering training sessions, or source their own coach.

Each Open team is also expected to have a Team Manager who will be the main point of contact for club communications. Teams playing in the PNA competition are also required to provide a scorer or timekeeper each week.

💙 Interested in coaching juniors?
We’d love to have Open players involved in coaching our junior teams, particularly the Year 9 - 12 competition. Open players who coach a Floreat Force junior team will have their club fees waived, along with other coaching benefits including a season coach fee, hoodie/jacket and netball drills app subscription. PNA Association Fees (approximately $116) are still payable via PlayHQ.

New Open Players – What to Do

1. Complete the Expression of Interest form

2. If a position becomes available, you will be invited to register with the club

3. Attend grading in February

If you miss the initial grading and team selection process, you can still complete the EOI/Waitlist form. We use this to source additional players throughout the season as positions become available

FFNC are a KidSport approved club

KidSport vouchers enables all WA children to participate in community sport and recreation and is provided by the WA government to eligible families. To find out more about KidSport and eligibility contact the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
